rpc edge vs Shyft

Shyft is the budget pick for unmetered gRPC and pre-indexed DeFi data, and it's good at that. But Shyft is read-only - a trader on Shyft still needs a second vendor to land transactions. That seam is our whole product.

THE HONEST READ

Two strong providers, different jobs.

We build for one job - the latency-critical trading path. Shyft solves a broader set of problems. Here is the fair read of where each one fits.

rpc edge

Built for one job: the trading and HFT niche. The shortest, most predictable path between the cluster and a strategy.

  • The write path exists here: a co-located transaction sender in every plan. Shyft has no transaction sender and no SWQoS write path - streaming a shred on Shyft still leaves you shopping for a way to land the trade.
  • One box, one loop: decoded shreds and gRPC feed a sender in the same rack, so the see-decide-land loop never crosses a vendor boundary.
  • You can trial the actual streaming: our 15-day vetted alpha includes gRPC and decoded shreds, no card. Shyft's free tier has no gRPC at all - the stream is paywalled at $199/mo.
  • Complete stream data: our Yellowstone gRPC carries full transaction metadata. Shyft's RabbitStream trades completeness for speed - no meta, no logs, no final execution status - so users end up running both streams.

Shyft

Shyft is a Solana-only provider built around price: flat plans with no credits, no bandwidth limits and no overages, gRPC from $199/mo, a free RPC tier with no card, pre-indexed DeFi data (SuperIndexer), and RabbitStream decoded-shred streaming. Support and sales run through Discord.

// where Shyft is genuinely strong

  • Genuinely aggressive pricing: unmetered gRPC bandwidth with no egress charges from $199/mo - a real cost ceiling for high-throughput readers.
  • SuperIndexer is a moat: pre-indexed token, NFT, and DeFi position data that saves teams from building their own indexer. We don't compete with it.
  • Free RPC tier with no card and no KYC, plus crypto payments accepted.
  • Wide read-side surface: 7 named gRPC regions, decoded shreds via RabbitStream, GraphQL and parsing APIs, and a well-forked open-source example library.

WHEN TO CHOOSE WHICH

Match the tool to the job.

Choose Shyft if…

Choose Shyft when you're cost-bound and read-only: analytics dashboards, indexers, wallet UIs, or anything that leans on pre-computed DeFi data. Unmetered gRPC at $199 and SuperIndexer are real value we don't try to match.

// not mutually exclusive - many teams run both, one for the product surface and one for the latency-critical path.

Frequently asked questions

Can I run a trading bot entirely on Shyft?
Not the whole loop. Shyft covers reads - RPC, gRPC, decoded shreds, indexed data - but has no transaction sender or SWQoS write path, so your bot needs a second provider to land transactions fast. rpc edge bundles both sides in one co-located endpoint, which is exactly the gap.
Shyft has decoded shreds too. What's different?
Two things. Shyft's RabbitStream is read-only and strips metadata - no logs, no final execution status - so most users keep a full Yellowstone stream running beside it. And it terminates at the read: there is no co-located sender to act on what you saw. We ship the full-metadata gRPC stream and the sender from the same box.
Isn't Shyft much cheaper?
For pure streaming volume, often yes - unmetered bandwidth at $199/mo is a real price and we won't pretend otherwise. But price the whole stack: Shyft plus a separate sender plus the latency of stitching them together. For read-only workloads, take Shyft's price. For trading, compare the full loop.
Can I try both before deciding?
Trying the actual stream is free only on one of them. Shyft's free tier excludes gRPC - streaming starts at $199/mo. rpc edge's 15-day vetted trial includes gRPC, decoded shreds, and the sender, with no card. Request access on Telegram and benchmark with your own workload.

Benchmark rpc edge against Shyft.

Shyft owns budget streaming and indexed data, and read-only teams should consider it seriously. If you trade, the question is the loop, not the feed. Take the 15-day trial and measure the whole path - shred in, transaction out - from one box.
